Editing

The final part of editing the sequence was when we cleaned up our credits. We cleaned up the credits as when Adam watched them they looked very squashed. The credits also had some spelling mistakes. We cleaned up all of the spelling mistakes and after that it was mostly finished. We cleaned it up by changing the size of the aspect to 120%. We did change some names as well which was the director name. We changed the Director Name to Adam Evans because Geralt Forsworn was not good. We finished off by creating the title to the film. We called it "Welcome Home" It took some time to think of the name. We had some other names such as "She's Watching" and "Ghaulhost" Manor but we eventually settled on Welcome Home. Jana chose the font of the title by getting a font from online. We then changed the color of the title to blue. After we changed the color that was the end of the sequence. We did encounter one problem which was that all of the macbooks in the room switched off and we forgot to save and lost some of our progress like the title name, it was not much though and managed to finish it quickly.

Editing credits

In Media we continued editing our sequence. The parts that we added to our sequence was the remaining credits. The credits that we added were all of the cast names the designer names and the sound names everything else that needed to be in the credits was there. I also had to move the credits into spaces because when we put them in the same spaces it got in the way of the cast so I put them in spaces where there were gaps and that were dark because the credit colour is white and it would be more visible if put in dark places. We finished off all of the credits and then that was the end.

Editing Again

In Media we continued editing the opening sequence and learned how to add credits to the sequence. The first thing we did for editing the sequence was adjusting the audio and adding in the rest of the music. We fixed up the screaming part of the sequence. We also added in some clanking sound effects during the shot of the girl sitting and Adam touching her shoulder. This was done so we could communicate the location of the asylum. We had the a creepy build up sound during that part until Adam touched her shoulder and then we cut it back to the part when they start playing again. The last piece of sound that we added was at the very end of the sequence when we got that same build up sound and put t in and the very end when we see her in the window as the final part of the sequence before the opening title sequence ends. We did that and that was our opening title sequence completed.

Next we learnt how to put credits into our sequence. So it was to go to premier pro and get the title cards and drag them on. We then were told to get the names very big in capital letters as they are important, and we were told to have them in the sequence long enough so that a slow reader ould read them three times before they disappear. We added our first credit to it which was peoples group presents. We then started adding our second credit which was something like JGK productions.

Editing

 Editing today In Media.

In Media Today we continued to edit our sequence. The parts we edited today was the end. We put together the rest of the sequence. So we started off by getting the final shots of them playing and one of them noticing the girl in the window. First we added in the shot of them playing on the grass, then there was then a shot of them looking up to the window and we had a close up of that specific shot so we used that close up when she looked in the window.

We did encounter one problem with that specific shot. The problem was that when she looked up into the window, she looked back at the camera. We were able to cut that part out though by cutting out the part where she looks at the camera so it only shows her looking at the girl in the window.  We next added in the final moment when the window is empty as she dissapears after the girl looks at the window. We made some edits to it after by adding the empty window and then suddenly the girl appears. What we also did was extended the shot of the forest at the start. That was the whole sequence finished. At the end of the day I came back to continue editing it. I came to the editing suit and Tom was there.

First we cleaned up the whole sequence by putting different shots together and removing some to make the sequence look a lot cleaner. We cleaned up the end of the sequence by adding the close up of the window in which made it look better. We also edited the begning of the sequence with the second shot of the forst and we edited it to show peasalke. I then cleaned up the sound of me and Janas voices whenevr we were talking to them. I cleaned up the shots that had really loud sounds of wind. He then changed the colors to some of the sequence by making some shots darker like the first establishing shot and the shots of the forest. After that we added in some music, we added in some creepy music throughout the sequence and then when we got to Adam talking in the car  he changed the volume of the girls speaking as it was too loud. We got to the part where they arrive at the house and extened the car noise as we got rid of some sound of wind so we put in the car noise to have some sound playing. We then had the music continue playing and we got to the part when Adams daughter was sitting on the floor and we stopped the music. We then added some sounds of screaming. That is all we got up to.

Credits and Film Logos

The title credits are used in films or in many sorts of media such as TV shows, are used in order to credit the people that worked on the product. There are different ways that they are implemented in sequences that fit the film. Some films might have no credits. An example of a film with no credits was the Disney film, Fantasia which was the first film in color to not have any credits included in it. There are some films that just use title credits and no closing credit, this happened in the past a lot. There are films with no title credits but an extensive ending credits. One of the first films to have no title credits and just ending credits was west side story.

Our type of film is a horror film. There are various title credit sequences that are in the horror genre. An example of this would be the film psycho which uses very unique opening titles. This sequence is very disjointed with multiple white bars separating communicating the type of film it is. Other type of horror sequences with our genre of films are films like IT. Newer films a lot of the time dont have specific title credit sequences and instead have the film play while the credits are in the background. IT does this. It has the only some of the credits in the background and saves the large quantity of credits for the ending of the film.

The logos of film companies have evolved over time, becoming more modern and showing what type of company they are. An example of a company's logo evolving over time is the logo for Warner Bros. Below is both logos, the one in black in white is the older logo and the one on top is the newer logo. The one at the bottom just is a triangle with a building in the background and The words Warner Bros Production around it. The newer logo is much more modernized with access to colors as there is new technology allowing them to make a much better logo . Below the new logo is a golden shield with the WB Words in the middle and in between there is a banner saying Warner bros pictures surrounding the shield. This logo is a lot more unique and is noticeable so people would easy recognize the company immediately if they saw that Logo. This is an example of developing the film logo and making it more unique so it becomes iconic.

Editing Today

Today In Media we continued editing our title sequence. Me and Jana continued from the editing that I started yesterday. We added to it. The shots we added were the shots of them arriving, the shots of them playing, the shots of the girl and the shots of them playing again. The first shot was the shot of me with the camera filming Adam Talking. We added that into there, after that we added the close up of one of them in the car, they shot we added next was the shot of both of them talking while I was in the front seat of the car filming them. We then got the wide shot, shortened it, a little bit and then added it to the sequence. The next shot we got was the mid shot of peaslake and of them getting out of the car and going into the house. We shortened the part of them going into the house so we could get to the next angle from the shot from inside the house and them running inside. The next shot we got was the shot of the  living room and of them running inside and playing and then one of them getting the sheet and throwing it over the camera as a transition. We got that part in and then we got the shot transitioning into the girl sitting on the floor and it was here where we encountered our first problem. We wanted to do a wide shot of her sitting there and when Adam touched her shoulder switch to a close up. We wanted her head down and to lift it when Adam touched her shoulder. We got the close up of that, but we forgot to get the non close up of that shot. So Instead we ended up having to just have in the close up on her shoulder. After the shot we put in the shot where we cut to one of them touching each others shoulder and playing. We the encountered our next problem which was the shot of them playing, we had two shots of them playing, one with the girl in the window and one without, the problem was that it looked really weird when playing because it looked disjointed with the transition as we wanted to to cut to the shot of her in the window while they were playing but it wasn't the same and we tried to transition to when they went off screen in the first shot to when they came on screen in the second shot but it still looked bad. That is what we got up to.

Media Today editing

I just started editing the media group roject we did of the ghost of peaslake house. What I did in this session involved getting all of the shots that I did and putting them together in a log bin. I created the log bin and got started. I first got the shot of the pull focus and then the longshot of peaslake house and put them btoh into the log bin. After I but them into the log bin i got more of the shots such as two of the shots that were handhelled and were shot of outside the window of the car and the windscreen of the car while driving showing off the forest. The next shots I got were the shots of inside the car of the children talking to Adam the Dad when they first arrived at the house. I added three of the shots, one of me with the camera in the front and shooting behind, one of me in the back seat and getting a shot of Adam, and a third shot of on of the children again. The next shots I put in there was the wide shot of peaslake house. The shot after that was the Mid shot of peaslake house when they arrived at the house. I then took the shot of inside the house showing outside the house as they arrived to the house. The next shot I got was of the living room with both of them coming to play and then one of them getting the sheet and throwing it in front of the camera. The next shot was of the girl sitting in the room,, in the past of the asylum and Adam is walking up to her and he touches her shoulder. I then get a close up fo that shot. I then got a shot of them playing outside with the girl stadning outside the window. After that shot I got a shot focused onto the window as she walks to the window, I then get a close up on the window while she is standing there. The final shots I got were the mid shot, the close up and the wide shot of the girls playing on the grass and one of them notice the girl in the window. I got all of those shots and put them in the log bin. I took multiple takes of these shots adn chose the best ones to put in the log bin. After that I started putting them together. The first shot I put was of the pull focus in the sequence. I decided to put that in instead of the long shot. After that I got the shot of outside the windscreen of the camera showing the road and the forest. I then put in the shot of outside the  window in the forest

Media Institutions

A Media institution that would distribute the movie that had our opening title sequence would be a company like Warner Bros picutrees who also distribute. They have produced horror movies such as IT and It 2 which are the same type of horror movie My our sequence is like, the movie It has the same target audience of the average teenager that likes movies. However those are high budget movies and our opening title sequence is not high budget. They alos heavily market their movies which bring in large profits

Other distribution companies are kaleidscope pictures. Kaleidscope pictures distributed the film, tank 432 which is a horror movie and could also be a distribution company. Tank 432 is a low budget independent film which is the type of film that our openng sequence is. They are different type of horror movies with tanke 432 being more of a psychological horror movie, and our sequence being a of a traditional horror movie.

Other distribution companies include companies such as, Lionsgate films. Lionsgate films are a film production and distribution company. They have distributed films such as american psycho and green room. Since they have distributed a lot of horror movies, the opening title sequence of our film fits into the horror genre and it would work well with a distribution of lionsgate films.

Roles in Research

On Our Shoot Day the Director was Jana. I shot a lot of the shots and Jana did as well. When we dited the sequence it will be me and Jana. Producer/art direction is Kai.

Media production is social collaboration which requires a vision of labor - specialized skills in order to manufacture the right shots in getting the correct genre conventions and tone of the opening sequence.

When I went to the set my role wast mostly shooting some of the shots and recording with the microphone. The shots I took was the  long shot outside peaslake, and the pull focus outside peaslake. Before the Shoot I needed to prepare the camera for shooting peaslake. By getting out the tripod and setting up the camera. My role is to make shots that portray the mood of out sequence which establish the genre of horror. The other shots I did included the shots inside the car of the girls, and the shots inside of the car on Adam. I used the microphone with the wide shot of peaslake. I also did the shots outside in the garden of the girls playing and of Adam's daughter standing in the window. We took some things that we needed such as the sheets for the sofa.

Our Target audience

Our Targeting quite teenage to young audiences for our opening title sequence, It is that type of horror type of film that those age demographics are interested in. Those age demographics. The types of audiences that like horror movies. The type of audience we are aiming for is the average type of people who are interested in horror movies and want a classic horror movie to watch with a friend. The Mainstream is the type of audience our film is for, they would enjoy the value of this film for the money it would cost to watch. The gender of audiences would be for both however It is more leaning towards Male audiences than female audiences. The class of people we are aiming for are the middle class, lower-middle class, and skilled working class the average people just looking to watch a nice horror movie. The hobbies the audiences would include something likes reading books that are scary and watching movies. The Male audiences especially would be teens and would be into playing games and watching action movies and horror movies and I think this movie would

cater towards that specific audience.

Based off of the research that I have done, the target audience would be 17 - 24 year old people. Examples that I have used are the movies IT 2017 and the movie the conjuring. Both movies are age-rated 15 which shows the target audience of these types of horror movies which are young teens. The target audience would be males that are adults in their mid 20s to late 20s and younger audiences from ages 18-24, the majority of the reviews off of imbd came from audiences these audiences and were males showing that my type of film would appeal more to men than women.  For it 2017, 24952, of the reviewers were males, and for the conjuring, 264, 330 of the audiences were males. People aged under 18 averaged a score of 7.5, which was silghtly more than the others which shows that the movie appeals to teenagers.

Evaluation of the Shoot

Overall I think the shooting of our sequence went quite well and we got to film everything we needed to film. When we first arrived at the shoot we explained every shot we were going to take during the shoot. Jana explained what was going to happen. After that we eventually started shooting at about 10 before the children arrived. We had to go into the house and clear stuff off walls and desks so the house looked empty  The first shot we took was when we drove out to a place where we could see peaslake from affair. We jumped the fence and then after that I took the firsy shot which a long shot of peaslake house. After that shot, we took another shot of a pull focus on the barbwire to peaslake. We then drove and then a shot was taken through the window of the car at the forest. When we arrived back at peaslake, the children had arrived and we discussed how we would shoot the shots in the car. I sat in the front seat and we ended up with me sitting on the seat facing the back of the car with the camera to get the shot of the kids as we were driving. I then took a shot in the back of Adam and at an angle where it would look like a forest.  We then took the camera outside to get a wide shot of peaslake house with the cars coming through the drive. We went inside the house.

When we went inside peaslake house we got all the shots  that were meant to be inside. We moved the sofas and put sheets over them, so we could get the shot with the children playing and it helped make the house look old. Jana then decided that one of the girls would put the sheet over the camera so then it would cut to the next moment. The next moment We filmed Adam's daughter with Adam coming and touching her shoulder, with a close up. After we got everything done in the house we went for lunch and then came back. After we came back we finished the rest of the shots outside of the kids playing and then we got the final shot of Adam's daughter up in the room through the window and then we finished. Overall this filming day was very successful as we managed to get all of the necessary shots that we needed as well as adding more shots to it to make our sequence better and getting multiple of the same shots to make sure we got the right shot.

Editing

Editing the sequence. In Media we edited the sequence that we filmed. The sequence that I edited together was putting together the good shots that I filmed. I filmed some shots twice in order to choose the best one. The shots were a close up was of a wide shot of the conversation I filmed of Amy and Jana that A close up on both of them then an over the shoulder shot of both of them. We also learned some new editing techniques such as how to cut which is the c key, we also learned how to adjust the sound on Adobe premier pro.

CCR TASK 2 How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
