The Props Location and Costume

 Props

The props that we will need will be some suitcases

Well will need some toys

We will need some bags for the girl and the boy

Kitchen tools

Some cardboard boxes for moving into the house.

Maybe a pen for the people in the past.

We are going to need a car for the family to go to the house.

The girl in the past however would maybe wear some black clothing in order to show that horror theme and what type of place she was in when she was alive which was a mental asylum

The location.

Its going to be in the peaslake house.

Inside the house there has to be a few locations that are empty so we can make a shot in there to show its empty as thus is a family that has just moved in so they need it to be empty.

There will be moments in these rooms where we will have to change the set.

There will also be shots in the woods in peaslake.

We will need to take a shot in the peaslake town.

The shots of this town can just be in a normal day. Or if it is raining it would be better because it would set the mood more effectively.

However after these shots of peaslake town are made there has to be filters edited in to change the location to the past.

The drone shot at the start with the filters create a creepy tone to the sequence.

We have organised with Adam, who so happens to be the housemaster of peaslake to shoot at peaslake.

We still have not completely organised the casting. We are still trying to get our children for the shoot.

We still need to get a car for the shot of the car driving to peaslake.

Mondays meeting

In this meeting, we met up with luke to tell him about our idea that we had settled on. When we told him we were told that the idea was good and interesting and it would be okay to be filmed. So after that, we have now got our idea. We were then told to start creating the storyboard for the sequence. We were told to think about casting for this storyboard like thinking about who we would cast as the kids and found out it might be hard getting kids the right age onto the set. We want two kids who are about 6 or 7 years old. So we thought about who we would get as the kids in the sequence. We did come up with a backup plan just in case we could not get kids such as having there be a party happening and there are adults in the house or if a teenager invited friends to the house and they discover the girl. These would be easier to cast but our first choice is for there to be two kids playing and them encountering different places in the house where it flashes back to the past and shows the girl. We talked about the first aerial shot and how we would get a drone to do it. After the meeting was over we were told to start our storyboard and to do some research.

The Wednesday meeting

We met up with Adam on Wednesday to pitch ideas. We had two ideas, one of the ideas that Jana created which we liked. This idea is more complex than the other idea which is our back up idea in case Jana's one is too complex. It was about the children playing hide and seek in the peaslake house and there are different areas in the house where it flashes to the past which was a mental asylum and eventually it ends up in the common room where it ends. It starts off introducing peaslake town and having a shout of the woods in which the house is near. Then we had a second Idea which was a much more simple version. That idea was a back up that Kai came up with during the meeting we had on the Monday prior. So when we pitched the idea we were told that the more complex idea was okay and was able to be filmed. So the less complex idea is still there just in case we struggle to film the more complex idea but both ideas can be done. We were then told to start to think about our storyboard for the idea and how exactly we would film it.

Scene first attempt

Here are clips of multiple shots of me attempting to film a scene for the first time.

This first clip is the master shot which is a wide shot of the room that establishes the location of a living room. It then shows me going to sit down.

The next shot is a close up on my face which makes me a point of interest.

The next shot is then a close-up shot on this remote, which I use the rule of thirds by placing it in a point of interest which makes it more interesting and show that it is a point of interest.

This clip is a shot of my hand moving and picking up the remote.

The final video is a clip of my hand moving the remote towards the tv and clicking the on button.

All of these shots together are clearly able to tell a short story of someone sitting down at night in his living room and about to watch tv.

Storyboarding

Storyboarding is an important part of the creation of the movie as makes planning the shots more easily. It helps as a visual representation of what is wanted in the shot and a detailed description of the shot which would then help to see the positives and negatives of the shot and what would not work so you can work around it. It also helps when editing when the editor sees the final film. A storyboard involves drawings to have a visual representation of what it would look like. It helps to get a better understanding of how it would look such as the number of shots there are and where the shot would be filmed, what specific location. For example, if the scene was about a man that was to break into a house a storyboard would show the exact location so a character might be standing next to a window ready to break it. The transition between the shots would help with a storyboard. Storyboarding helps to show what exactly is happening in the shot. For example, if the shot showed a man that was going to get a hammer and break a window then there would be a close-up shot of his hands on the hammer and picking it up. There then might be a tracking shot of his hands as he picks up the hammer and then a mid-shot of him breaking the glass. This would all be featured in a storyboard and would help get a shot by a shot understanding of what would happen. A storyboard would also help the editor editing in sound effects that are needed back to the hammer break example, a sound effect of shattered glass would be played and the sound of the swing of the hammer and a storyboard would help show exactly what is happening so the exact sound effects could be added to it. It also shows the timing and how long the shot would be filmed for. All of these aspects are the reason why a storyboard is so important as it would help show clearly what is happening on the screen so it would help when filming the scene and it would help when editing the scene.

Friday meeting

On Friday we had a meeting. In this meeting, we all had three ideas that we would present. My idea was about the dad that discovers that the girl existed in the peaslake house. He goes in and then the kids go to play. The dad sees a girl in front of him and he is spooked. He then hears a scream and then the title sequence ends revealing the title of the film. Kai's idea was about the children playing and they go into different rooms as they go into the rooms the scenery of the rooms is flashing back to the past in the mental asylum and then they find the girl. Jana's idea showed an areal shot of the house today and then flickering back in time to when it was a mental asylum. The camera goes into the house and then when it goes into the house it flickers again back to today. There are kids running, they open the door to the common room. As the door opens it goes back to the old house and shows a girl sitting in the middle. The girl starts screaming hysterically and two men in all white come and grab her arms. It goes back to today The children go to the kitchen where one kid picks up a cloth that's covering the table and removes it. It then transitions into a cloth being put over a girl's clothing in the old house. The girl gets held down. There is blood dripping on the floor. We see the girl's silhouette standing behind the glass. The shot cuts close to her and freezes on her face. All three of our ideas had good elements. That was the feedback we got. However we were told that our ideas still were not there yet. We discussed what the kids would be playing. We discussed how old the kids would be, they would have to be young enough for them to be scared and for it to look real. So after we sorted that out our group were then told to combine are good elements out of the three to make a good solid idea.

Meeting

In our meeting, we tried to come up with an idea. Jana came with an idea that starts with an ariel shot of peaslake town and seeing a car driving through the town. It cuts to a view from the car where we can see peaslake through the trees. The house switches from modern-day to an asylum as the car went through. The children run into the house and start playing while their parents are organizing boxes. The kids go into the common room and see a girl sitting there with a white dress shaking. They go to the back yard and go to the forest.  There is a shot of them playing with the house behind them and in the house we see the girl watching. One kid notices and looks but then the girl is gone and then the title of the film goes there. We did like Jana's idea however we thought it is too complicated and it reveals too much so we decided to create another more simple idea.  We have an aerial shot of the peaslake house. We then go into the house and follow the kids playing hide and seek. While they are playing in the house, a girl is following them and they do not realize it. They continue playing in the forest and the girl is still there in the house watching them. I questioned how we would be able to do the aerial shots. We decided that we would use a drone to take them. I also questioned how we would flicker back and forth from the past to the present. We decided that we would use filters to show this
