Sound Bridge: A sound bridge is any sound that can play into the beginning of a scene or bridge out of a scene. This could be used to show an important part of a scene or to establish the mood of a scene.
Pleonastic sound: A sound that has been amplified. For example footsteps. In a scene, pleonastic sounds of footsteps might be playing while someone is walking, so the sound of footsteps would be exaggerated in order to show what someone is doing.
Parallel sound: It is a sound that matches what is happening on the screen. For example, if there was a funeral scene, there would be slow temp quiet sad music playing in the background as that would match the mood of the scene.
Contrapuntal sound: Sound that does not match what is going on in the scene. For example in the opening sequence to the film "The Shining", the environment is beautiful but there is very creepy music playing in the background.
Synchronous sound: A sound that shows what is happening on the scene. For example, if someone were to shoot a gun, there would be a Synchronous sound played of a gunshot in order to show that a bullet has been fired out of a gun.
Asynchronous sound: It is a sound that is not related to

what is happening on the screen.
