kill bill vol 2

Analysis of the sound in the Beatrix burial in kill bill vol 2

First, it starts off with the woman being nailed in the coffin. Synchronous sound is played when the coffin closes shut. When the hammer is hitting on the nails. Pleonastic sound is used to amplify the sound of the hammer in order to show the intensity of the scene. Non-diegetic sound is playing in the background in the form of sad music. This music shows that there is no hope for her the music is contrapuntal as it matches the theme of what is happening in the scene. Loud breathing sounds to show the fear of the character. The screen then goes silent. All that an be heard are sounds. This part creates meaning by showing what the scene is about by showing the location and showing the coffin being nailed.

There are sounds of the coffin being put in the hole. The music also stops here, it is done in order to make the audience focus on the sounds of the burial. It then starts playing sounds of dirt being put to over the hole, portraying that the burial is at its final stage. Another indication of this is the breathing sounds that get more intense as the scene progresses. The sounds of the dirt start to get more quiet showing that it's about to fill up. This keeps on progressing until the scene gets completely quiet showing that the burial has been completed. This part creates meaning by blacking out the screen to the audience can only focus on the burial which makes it seem more realistic and it also shows the mood of the scene and the intensity.
